Soon after it was put up the R & D Centre started working on Applied Organic Chemistry in synthesis of various commercially important molecules in addition to contributing original papers on research, the scientists at the Centre developed a processes for isolating compounds of Pharmaceutical interest from various medicinal plants. Vincristine, Vinblastine, Forskholin, and Podophyllotoxin are some compounds for which process technologies were developed.

The emphasis now, is on multi-step Organic synthesis of Drug Intermediates, Bulk Drugs and a host of other fine chemicals useful in varied fields other than the Pharmaceutical Industry.

Although the emphasis is on making chemicals for the Pharmaceutical Industry , the R & D Center is also actively engaged in improving the OTC Healthcare products that the company markets.
